I never understood people who chose to buy stuff instead of making it themselves at home, especially nowadays when we know a great deal about the perils of chemicals. Call me paranoid, but I don’t trust most commercial products that claim to be using only natural ingredients but they manufacture millions at a time. The homemade recipes are fun to learn and once you get the hang of it and are capable of making your own household products you will curb your spending, which is a great side-effect.
There are plenty of things that you can do when you have a little free time and enthusiasm, with cleaning products representing the majority. The idea is to live in a spotless house without poisoning yourself in the process by using products rich in chemicals that persist in the air that you eventually inhale. Speaking of which, did you know that it was possible to fend off all those tiny creatures that make you miserable such as ants, bugs and mosquitoes without spreading poison everywhere.
Homemade recipes such as bug sprays and traps for insects are every bit as potent as their commercial counterparts, but you don’t have to fear for the safety of your kids and pets. I am hooked on beauty products, but I no longer settle for what I find on the supermarket’s shelves nor do I pay a lot for branded merchandise. Most of the ingredients I need for homemade alternatives are cheap and within reach, so there is nothing stopping me in my tracks.
