How To Clean Jewelry – No Scrubbing Required

how-to-clean-jewelry

Seriously, who hasn’t taken out their best jewelry the day you’re going to wear it and find it’s a tarnished mess? At that point you have a few options. If you have one of the fancy and pricey ultrasonic jewelry cleaners, you can place it in the holder and turn it on while you do other things. If you’re like most people I know, you don’t have one. You can use messy jewelry cleaner or a homemade scrub, but I love the solution I found at thecleanseed. It takes only minutes and while it’s working, you can do other things for you big night out on the town or special day.

You’ll need a microwave for this one and a few normal household items almost everyone has in their home. The ingredients include a tablespoon of each, salt, baking soda and dish detergent. You’ll also need water and aluminum foil, as well as a bowl and a soft cloth. That’s it! You probably already have all these ingredients on hand and within easy reach, so you never have to fret. Even if you change your mind at the last minute and decide to wear Grandma’s broach, it will only take ten minutes to get it looking sparkling clean and ready for the ball.

Here’s what you need for 1 bowl of cleaning solution:

-1 tablespoon salt
-1 tablespoon baking soda
-1 tablespoon dish detergent
-1 cup water
-1 piece of aluminum foil

Here’s What You Do:
Heat up your water in the microwave for 1 or 2 minutes.
Cut a piece of aluminum foil to roughly fit the bottom of your small bowl. Place foil in bowl.
Pour hot water into the bowl, followed by salt, soda and dishwashing liquid.
Place jewelry on top of the foil in the water mixture and let it sit for 5-10 minutes.
Rinse jewelry in cool water, then dry with a soft cloth.
Discard solutions and admire your sparkling jewelry, no scrubbing required!
