Make a Beautiful Holiday Decoration With Epsom Salt

Decorating your home for the holidays doesn’t have to cost a fortune and neither do thoughtful gifts. You shouldn’t cringe every time you notice the holidays are coming because you know they’ll end with months of payments on credit cards that you usually get paid off right before the next Christmas or holiday time. We made changes in our gift giving. Everyone buys one gift card and brings a homemade gift and a gag gift. The game is complicated but it involves the ability to steal another person’s gift or be forced to trade gifts, whether that gift is a gift card, gag gift or homemade gift.

These icy votive candle holders were quite inexpensive. I had everything on hand, including votive candles, the Epsom salt, small rose bowl vases, food coloring and thinned Elmer’s glue, which I substituted for the Mod Podge in the video. I did some experimenting and found you could create designs or write words, such as Happy Holidays, on the candle holder too. I did this by first coating the vase with white Epsom salt, allowing it to dry and then writing on top of that layer with glue right out of the bottle. I then rolled the glue writing in Epsom salt to which I had added food coloring.
