I’m sure you’ve seen plenty of pictures on Pinterest, Instagram, and Facebook of a lovely body art that is being called white henna. Actually it’s not henna at all.
This is an important distinction and can cause confusion and disappointment. Not worry; you’re about to learn the ins and outs of henna and “white henna” and tell you how to make white henna!
What is

Henna (the real henna) is a paste made from a plant that stains the top layer of skin. This stain generally has good color 5-10 day but can last 1-3 weeks. Henna can not be washed off.
“White henna” is body art done in white body paint that is a topical color and wears away in 1-5 days, depending on the product used to create it. It contains no actual henna at all and doesn’t stain your skin. People call it white henna because the designs are often henna-like.

① Start off with one part of body paint and add 2 parts of the cream adhesive (eg. 1 tbsp body paint, 2 tbsp cream adhesive). Just adjust the ratio according to your needs.
② Mix the 2 ingredients together and you’ll notice that the consistency of the mixture will turn a bit tacky. Just give it a good mix.
Note: You can use a ziplock bag and roll it up but it didn’t work that well. It’s better to invest on some henna applicator bottles to make it easy to work with. You can find these tubes at Amazon.com.
TIPS: It’s best to find some of your favorite White Henna pictures from Instagram or Pinterest that you can follow and challenge yourself to do it at home.
The key here is to overcome your fear, don’t be scared if you mess up. Just let your creative side go with the flow while using your favorite picture as reference.

Also, don’t let the mixture dries out hence once you do the mixture, use it asap.
③ The final step is to add the glitters before it dries out. Distribute them loosely on top of the “White Henna” tattoo and then sprinkle the cornstarch, let it dry (for about about 15-20 minutes). Take a little brush and gently sweep out the excess.

How do you
White Henna?
- You can use the sticky side of a scotch tape and simply dab or rub it off on the”white henna” adhesive to remove the temporary tattoo.
- You can also use a lotion or oil by scrubbing it on the affected area to remove ‘white henna’ paste.
- You can also remove ‘white henna’ with isopropyl alcohol.
You don’t have to be a brain surgeon to be a valuable person. You become valuable because of the knowledge that you have. And that doesn’t mean you won’t fail sometimes. The important thing is to keep trying.
